Foundation Computer Skills
Windows Navigation

For anyone new to Windows, or wanting to get faster around it. Covers signing in, finding your way around the desktop and Start menu, organising files and folders, and the everyday settings people usually end up guessing at.
Keyboarding
≈ 2 hours
Touch typing and keyboard confidence, taught properly rather than assumed. The overview covers healthy setup and the home-row basics; the full course adds speed-building practice, symbols, and common shortcuts.
Everyday Digital
Internet Navigation

Practical browsing skills using Chrome or Edge, whichever you already have. Covers searching effectively, working with tabs and windows, saving images and text from a page, staying safe online, and using sites like Seek and TradeMe to find work.

Sending, receiving, replying and organising email – whichever software or webmail you use. Covers attachments, folders, and the everyday etiquette that avoids awkward moments at work.
Smartphone

Bridging the gap from computer to smartphone. Covers finding your way around the phone, using the built-in apps (Camera, Calendar, Notes, Maps, Calculator), managing files and photos, browsing and email on a small screen, and using TradeMe to search and apply for jobs.

Word – Foundation Skills

Formatting, images, and everyday document creation – enough to produce a clean, professional-looking document confidently.
Word – Core Skills

Everything in the Foundation course, plus headers and footers, tabs, mail merge, and the features that come up in an admin or office role.
Excel – Foundation Skills

Spreadsheet basics – entering and formatting data, simple formulas, and straightforward charts.

Windows Voice Access

For learners who find a mouse and keyboard difficult to use. Covers setting up and using Windows’ built-in voice control, plus dictating and editing text in Word by voice. Assumes some existing familiarity with Windows and Microsoft 365.
Digital Boost

Smartphone tools for learners who find reading, writing, or calculating a barrier at work or day to day. Covers voice-to-text and speech tools, building a personal word bank for words you often misspell, a camera app that reads text aloud, a grammar and tone-checking keyboard, and a calculator that handles everyday number problems like percentages, GST, and measurements, without needing to remember a formula.

Individualised AI training based on the learner’s needs, wider training programme, and the systems they use. Covers practical, safe and effective ways to use AI to support learning, work tasks and everyday productivity.
Literacy & Numeracy

We provide individualised literacy and numeracy training, built by the trainer around what the learner actually needs. We usually recommend a Literacy and/or Numeracy Needs Assessment first, which we use to shape the training plan around the individual’s needs and goals.

This course is essential for work types that involve making sales and dealing with customers in a customer-facing context. In this course, learners understand how to look after customers, make a successful sale, and understand buying & selling processes as well as security systems and procedures.
Customer Service Certificate

This course is suitable for those that will be working, or intending to work, in industries where customer contact is required. The focus is to learn how to provide customer service, handle complaints, respond to inquiries & provide safe and secure customer-facing reception services.

This course equips learners with the essential office administration skills that are needed in an office and/ or administrative work environment. The focus is gaining skills to demonstrate effective use of office equipment, learning administrative processes, and documenting various electronic and manual business transactions.

Computing Essentials

This is the perfect course for learners requiring computing skills for work types that have a computing element. Learners will gain computing skills that will assist in their job search and acquire effective tools to search and apply for employment positions using a computer, including gaining the skills to: perform a range of employment-based entry-level computing tasks, confidently connect as a host and/or participant using video conferencing software and apply various collaboration tools, manage files and folders and navigate in modern Windows operating systems, enter text using basic keyboarding skills, including several shortcuts, use search engines to safely find information online, use email to communicate effectively by sending and receiving messages, documents and information, use the main features and functions of a word processing application for a purpose, and produce a spreadsheet from instructions using supplied data.
